Palm Sunday recce

On Sunday I spent a lovely spring-sunny day depping and larking about in Wells for Palm Sunday (joke of the day: lay vicar: ‘Tim you haven’t got a palm’; Mr Owens: ‘no, he’s got an iPhone!’). I am now giddy with anticipation of our week, and all the fun we will have, there in May (not because of that joke, I hasten to add).

You’ll be pleased to hear I took the opportunity to do some pub research in the breaks (noble; I didn’t enjoy it at all), visited Number 14 Vicars’ Close, where the Mon-Weds crowd will stay, and made copious mental notes on the idiosyncrasies of Eucharist (always the most anxious moment for the conductor - and organist - of any choir trip as it’s done subtly differently everywhere).

This is mainly a note to ask you to get thinking about precisely which nights you are coming down to Wells and if you have any special, that’s SPECIAL, requirements. Many of you have given an indication of which services you intend to sing for (thanks - it’s really helped in drawing up a music list) but now we need to get on and sort accommodation.

This is necessarily complicated with people coming and going throughout the week and no single venue able to accommodate us all.

Ian and I had a meeting last night - CL’s first ever project planning meeting! - and think we have a plan; we just need to hear from you with your preferences and plans. If I’m expecting you should have had an email with the details we need from you.
