Welcome back to reality

Just a quick note to say hi and thanks.

I can only echo Toppie’s sentiments: “I haven’t had this much fun in a long time”.

If you’re anything like me you’ll be feeling a bit blue today — but never fear: we are only days away from a shower of photos, video clips, recordings (including an exclusive recovered excerpt of the Purcell), a collated quotes list, the winning surfer slang re-definitions and a website redesign.

Thank you all again for your contributions, notably: Huw for conducting and doing such a thorough job on the Rheinberger (but remember it’s not a popularity contest); Richard for impeccable professionalism and an infectious sense of fun (the seal approves); my fellow Basecampers (they know who they are); all of you for coming and singing so beautifully and finally all those people who just get on with jobs behind the scenes not looking for praise or thanks but just contributing; nevertheless we are grateful.

Watch this space…

UPDATE: for easy sharing, why not upload your pics and vids to this central location: ftp://ftp.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/cantoresliterati/ Email me for the username/password then just drag and drop your files into that screen. Ideally, create a new folder such as “tim” and put your files in there (File > New > folder). If you receive an error page, go to “Page” (top right) and select “open this ftp site in Windows Explorer”.

Thanks so much for the weekend, especially for the singing which cheered Abi & me up on Sunday night. After breaking down at 9:30 with ALL my headlights buggered, we called the AA and spent 3 hours trying to explain to some dizzy Welsh bitch where we were - I told her we were on the A40 west of Carmarthen (which we were), but she was convinced we were on the A48 east of Carmarthen (which we weren’t). When eventually they said someone would be out to find us at 3 am, I told them to go forth and multiply and we decided to sleep in the car in a lay-by, setting off again at dawn. I might post the snotogram and a picture of my shredded membership card here later for your amusement. In the meantime, I suggest you all leave and join the RAC when your renewal is due…..

Adding my thanks. Stupid amounts of fun and some amazing music. Definitely worth the drive.

    Love you all.

Now I have got my week of hell out of the way, I have got time to add my thanks to everyone involved in a totally stonking weekend. It really was quite perfect in every way (possibly with the exception of wine bottle violations).

Hope it’s ok to share my week-of-hell-interview-for-new-job news here since I may have mentioned it once or twice over the weekend! Despite coming back with a stinking cold (who gave me that?) and spending 2 days in bed, (therefore not starting my interview presentation until literally a few hours before the actual interview meaning I had to work through the night before to complete it)………I GOT THE JOB!

So….thanks to those who gave me some advice and encouragement over the weekend - it clearly helped! Sitting on the beach swotting is obviously the way forward for job interviews and I’m really glad I didn’t miss such a brilliant few days away!

Where are we going next year? I’m already excited!
    x

    Well done Jo, you rock!
I’ve had pretty good success with post-choir-weekend job interviews myself. Deffo something to be said for it.
