Remember your wetsuit

thanks Ben!– or robes, however you wish to refer to them (as we are in surfer country I think we ought to adopt the lingo).

We will be robing up for all 5 services so please can you set about procuring your own:

  • cassock
  • surplice
  • dark shoes
  • any other accoutrements you wish to adorn yourself with

If you don’t possess your own set of robes, or know where you can borrow some, please use the area below to indicate that you would like to borrow some; between kind volunteers such as Richard and Eric we should be able to provide a few spares. But you must let them know!

Show-offs are invited to wear their doggers (or academic hoods).

Does it matter what colour the robes are? I might bring my snot-green and puce pin-stripe cassock - or my blue one from St Mary’s….

  2. Timbo Says:

Don’t we get enough of your questionable fashion statements as it is? (not that I can talk given my current choice of hairstyle)

    The blue one will suffice.
(if you dare poach a couple as spares that would be helpful)

I heard you news btw - many congratulations. Really cool. I won’t steal your thunder — and god knows you’ve got enough of it — by announcing it here.

Have you had any emails from me about the Batten? If you’ve sent replies I haven’t had them.

  3. Liz Says:

Can I borrow some robes off someone please? I don’t have access to any I’m afraid. Thank you!! Liz

  4. Michael Says:

I am also robeless and would appreciate a borrowing facility. Thanks!

  5. Chris Reed Says:

I’ll see about spares, unfortunately St Mary’s are also away that weekend singing in Sherborne & Chichester so it might be a bit tricky.

I haven’t sent any replies about the Batten because I’m lazy. However it’s a piece that I know from Hendon so I’m happy to fill in the solo for the Mag. Thanks for the congrats - what about night on the razz in Brizzle next Wednesday to celebrate? We should probably get the drinking out of the way before the sobriety of St Davids kicks in….

  6. Timbo Says:

Do you mean a week today (15th) or the eve of the carnage (22nd)?
If the former, then, why yes! - I’ll be here.
If the latter - what we really ought to do is get to St David’s a night early… driving across south wales with a hangover will be no fun whatsoever (even less than normal).

(just tried phoning you to discuss this masterplan but your phone’s off ya bugger!)

  7. Liz Says:

And whilst I’m begging for robes - can I beg for a lift from Bristol from someone please? My ancient car exploded the other day so I have no transport boo.
    Thanks!
    Liz

  8. Timbo Says:

We might be able to help if you’d like to come the night before? Drop me a call if so…

  9. Ben Reid Says:

    Hmmm… http://snipurl.com/1pdba ?

Could probably grab robes from my Catholic church, but they look very different from everyone elses, so if any are going spare I’d be very grateful. Thanks in advance.

    Ben

  10. Daniel Dewey Says:

Having lapsed from my church choir career quite a few years ago, I don’t have access to a wetsuit
or a robe I’m afraid. So if there is anybody out there with a spare one (that’s not pink!), then I would
    be much obliged.

If not I’ll wear one of those robes that you get given before an operation and bare my ass to St David’s
    Cathedral!

    Many thanks

    Daniel

  11. Richard Johnson Says:

Requests noted. I’ll bring five spares.

  12. Claire Says:

Hi, I might be able to borrow a robe from my Lambourn Church choir. They’re blue - is this ok? Also, the women didn’t wear surplices and ruffs! Do you require me to wear the male variation? Questions questions!!!

p.s. just seen how far I have to drive next week - flippin heck it’s the other side of the world!!!!

  13. Liz Says:

    Thank you!

  14. Timbo Says:

    I promise - it’s worth the journey.

  15. Ben Reid Says:

Dunno where anyone’s coming from, or if they saw my message on the other thread, but if they need a lift from Reading I’m driving from there Thursday.

    Cheers,

    Ben

  16. Toppie Says:

Having only just logged on due to moving house and having NO internet access I guess it’s too late to beg for robes and the like but I will bring my gown, just to be different. So unlike me I know.

    Can’t wait.

    Topps.
