Just as this trip was beginning to look headed for wipeout, out of the great blue yonder, I had an unexpected callback from the YHA in Whitesands - they have just had a cancellation.
Whitesands is 1.5 miles coast-ward of St Davids - so I’ll guess we’ll be driving in and out each day -, a favourite location of the surfing community and a blue flag beach. In other words, we’ll have get in our cars each day (bogus), but we’ll only have to walk 5 mintues to one of the UK’s finest beaches! (awesome)
Sweet as Pen Rhiw was being walkable from the cathedral etc, the YHA was always my second choice.
And whilst a youth hostel may not be the most luxurious digs, it’s certainly the best value for money; £20/night means we can cover all costs for <£100/person which is not bad for a 4-night trip.
As of this writing, I’m still waiting to hear back from some of you before confirming the booking, but it’s looks we’re back on.
