Welcome to the Cantores Literati blog, the communications hub for ourĂ‚ trip to St David’s Cathedral, 23-27 August 2007.
“blogs are just a type of website, just way cooler…”
If you’ve ever found yourself thinking, “what’s the difference between a blog and a website..?” then fear not.
Simply put, a blog is a website. Just updated more regularly and with a couple of extra, waay-cool features.
Leave comments
For every page, or “post” there is a place where you can leave a reply or comment. This gives everyone, not just the author, a say - and will help make the trip ’shaped’ and collaborated on by everyone.
Don’t be shy: all you need to do is leave your name, email (not published) and a few thoughts.
“blogs have two cool features: the ability to leave comments and subscribe to news feeds”
News feeds
News feeds, also known as RSS, are something you can subscribe to as a means getting alerted of a new post on the website without needing to check the website constantly (lots of other sites offer this now). You need two things:
- A “feed reader” (more below)
- The ability to click an orange button
A feed-reader is a program which can notify you when the blog has been updated. There is loads of software out there, but if you browse the internet with either the latest version of Internet Explorer (version 7) or better still Firefox then the capability is built right in.
Ian knows a couple of nifty ways to use RSS, so I’m hoping he might christen this blog with a first comment on that subject.
